My Story

Breathing life into concepts through 3D modeling is where my true passion ignites.

Hello! I am Phong Duong CG, a dedicated 3D Generalist with nearly four years of freelance experience crafting expert 3D solutions for diverse industries like Gaming, Fashion, and Product Design. My journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, providing a strong foundation in design principles. While my primary passion and focus lie in bringing ideas to life in 3D using tools like Blender, Fusion 360, and Unreal Engine, I also leverage skills in Web Designer (WordPress using Elementor) as a supplementary tool to effectively support my projects and client interactions.

How my journey begin

Drawn to the art and science behind every building, choosing architecture felt like answering a call.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City (UAH) (2014-2020). During these studies, beyond core architectural principles, I also gained significant knowledge in graphic design, composition, and layout principles, as presenting complex projects required proficiency with various design tools.

My subsequent work as an Architect (at Lap Viet, May 2019 – Oct 2020) further equipped me with a solid design foundation, modeling capabilities, and proficiency in AutoCAD.

BUT ONE DAY

I Realized I've only scratched the surface of the 3D world.

I WAS SUPRISE AND

Astonished by what Blender can do.

Following my architectural work, I ventured into the dynamic world of 3D. Around that time, Blender had just released version 2.8; its significantly updated interface and features truly captivated me, sparking my desire to explore further. This prompted me to dive deeper into Blender and the wider world of 3D.

TNA Entertainment

Joining TNA Entertainment as a 3D Designer  was a crucial step into the professional 3D world. In this role, I designed diverse communication materials, bridging both 2D (including managing print inspection) and 3D requirements. A significant part of my work involved modeling 3D concepts for environments and props directly from 2D designs to facilitate physical prop fabrication for film production.

During this period, my knowledge of Blender was still quite basic, yet sufficient to handle the essential modeling tasks required for the role. This position certainly pushed me to rapidly develop my practical 3D capabilities on the job.

Oct 2021-Now

Freelance Growth
& Skill Expansion

Following my time at TNA Entertainment, which concluded in October 2021 amidst pandemic-related industry shifts, I fully committed to my freelance career as a 3D Generalist (initiated June 2021). This marked a period of intensive self-directed learning and skill diversification.

Beyond deepening my 3D modeling foundations, I actively honed complementary skills like rigging, texturing, lighting, and animation through various freelance projects.

To meet diverse project requirements, I expanded my software proficiency, mastering tools like Marvelous Designer, Substance Painter, and Unreal Engine for creative workflows, and delving into precision CAD software such as Fusion 360 and Plasticity for technical tasks.

Embracing the opportunities presented by the AI era, I also learned Python and began developing Blender addons. This significantly enhanced my workflow efficiency, boosting speed and accuracy, particularly in handling large-volume 3D modeling tasks.

These expanded capabilities have enabled me to successfully deliver complex, large-scale 3D resource projects for clients across diverse sectors including Fashion, Game Assets, Education, 3D Comercial, 3D Product Design, NFT, Explosive Ordnance Disposal.
